MOCAK Director Dismissed Following Allegations

Adam Budak, the former Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, Poland (MOCAK), has been dismissed from his position amid allegations of bullying and an investigation into improper management.
A statement released by the city of Krakow cited the official reason for Budak’s dismissal as ‘the finding of improper performance of duties related to work organization and team management.’ The investigation followed allegations of bullying by museum employees, according to the Polish news platform Onet.
Budak released his own statement in which he disputes the legal basis of the dismissal. The news was also met with outrage from other artists and curators, some of whom have resigned their participation in MOCAK’s imminent programming, and others who have signed a petition launched by Paulina Ołowska.
